Practice News and Updates

Welcome Dr. Staci Jordan and New Medical Assistant!

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Staci Jordan, who will begin seeing patients on Wednesday, April 15. Dr. Jordan has been practicing for 25 years and shares Dr. Sullivan's philosophy of compassionate, patient-focused care.

Oakhaven is proud to welcome Cambill Garlock, CMA, our new Medical Assistant, whose first day will be Monday, April 13. Many of Dr. Jordan’s patients will recognize her familiar face as she has been an integral member of Dr. Jordan’s staff in the past.

Onsite Lab & Pharmacy Status

We continue to work on making the onsite pharmacy and onsite lab draw station fully operational. We recently completed the new electronic LabCorp interface integration, which will allow us to receive lab results more efficiently. This will provide greater convenience and probable cost savings for many of you.

Patient Availability and Scheduling

As our practice continues to grow, especially as we onboard many of Dr. Jordan’s patients we hope to make a fe scheduling adjustments. Dr. Sullivan is planning to shift to 30-minute appointment blocks in the coming months to help increase overall availability without sacrificing face-to-face time.

We kindly ask that if you do not have an urgent need, please schedule your appointment 3 to 4 weeks out to ensure we have room for patients with more urgent needs.

HSA/FSA Compliance Update

As a reminder, thanks to new federal laws passed in 2026 (the OBBBA), your DPC membership fees are now recognized as Qualified Medical Expenses. This means you can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay your monthly dues with pre-tax dollars, which is essentially like getting a 25 to 30% discount on your membership.

Keeping Your Heart Happy: Learning About High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

High blood pressure is also called hypertension. It means the force of your blood pushing on the inside walls of your blood vessels is too strong. Over time, this extra-strong pushing can make your heart work too hard and hurt your body.

How We Check Your Blood Pressure

When we check your blood pressure, we get two numbers:

When is Blood Pressure too High?

Your doctor will look at both numbers. If the top number is 130 or more, or the bottom number is 80 or more, your blood pressure is considered high (Stage 1 hypertension).

How to Help Your Heart

The best way to treat high blood pressure is to make healthy changes to your life. Your doctor may recommend these lifestyle changes:

If these lifestyle changes are not enough, your doctor may suggest medicine to help lower your blood pressure to a safe level.
